Excerpt from: The Encounter

Something didn't seem right, not in the least...

She could sense it in the pads of her paws. The ground didn't feel as crisp and welcoming as it normally did. Instead it seemed anxious and stiff, as though one false emotion would bring its end in a flash. The woodland too seemed to be in the same state. The trees were less vibrant and colorless, twisting and bending in fright.

"Come to think of it," she thought, "The creatures are silent as well."

This was eerily true... The inhabitants of the woods could not be seen or heard of at all by the young she-wolf. It was as if they had simply disappeared into non-existence.

Her violet eyes narrowed at the thought. What could have scared everything in the forest so badly into a state such as this? She snorted as she shook her head to rid herself of the uncomfortable thoughts that were now sinking into her mind. Her pace quickened as she began to trot swiftly and silently through the path, violet paws pushing on the ground softly as to not leave imprints. She could not risk anything at this moment...

Short Story: The OutCast

A short story of Veril and Feril meeting once again after a tragic incident. (I wrote this during my Art class, so excuse me for any errors.) *sweatdrop*

   The OutCast

"My, my... Look, what we have here," a gruff voice taunted.

Veril snapped his head to the side and bared his fangs. His fur scruff stood on end, angerily, as his orange optics gazed upon his addresser. Swiftly, he took in a battle stance; making sure that all his sides were protected.

"What are you doing here, Feril!?" Veril snapped, venom laced with the last word.

The other Ragnorak looked hurt, but the delight in his eyes said otherwise.

"Why brother, is that how you welcome home a long-lost sibling?" Feril asked, the sadist smile growing on his maw.

Veril snorted as he tossed his head to the side in a disgusted manner. He bit his tongue in distaste as he glared at the other Ragnorak. To think, that this masochist was part of his clan, his bloodline! This creature had no right to be within the clan's borders. "Of course," Veril thought, "this arrogant whelp never listened to anyone."

"Don't be like this, Veril. How about an appropriate greeting for me?"

"Ha! The only greeting you deserve is my fangs breaking your skull!"

"So... Our anger and hatred still run deep? How wonderful!" howled Feril with joy. A crazed grin grew as his lips as he watched the other through slitted blue orbs.

"You know dear, brother," he spat, "This is just like our fights in puphood."

Veril growled as his ears pressed against his skull and tail swung high in warning.

"Yes... And even now you're still exceedingly arrogant."

"And you are still the favorite in the clan's eyes!" Feril snarled in jealous rage.

"What are you talking about!?" Veril growled.

   His brother snarled in fury.

"Oh please! Even when we were pups, you were the clan's pride and joy! Everyone adored you because of your freakish traits! Your longer limbs, tiny paws and elegant long ears! That was all I ever heard! Oh, and don't get me started on your damn eyes!  Every female of the clan fawned over them because they were the rare orange! Hell, even the males swelled with pride at the sight of them and you! But did they once look at me? Worship me with coddles and praise for my stocky limbs, muscular body, and blue eyes? NO! They cast me away!"

"You know that's not true, Feril! The clan gave us equal attention since our birth! They loved us both!"

"My God, you are so fucking blind, Veril! You didn't even bask in the glory, you ignored it; trying to be the perfect adult Fool!"

"And you're not!? You were always egotistical! You believed that you owned the entire world of Caliber! No matter what anyone did for you, you never settled! Hell, I tried to become close to you at one point but you refused! It's not my fault for your anger! You're just the same spoiled whelp!"

"Maybe. But I at least deserved to be Head of the Clan! I was and still am more powerful then you! But noooo... The clan wanted you and because of that I left!" Feril snarled, jaws snapping at Veril.

Veril's hackles bristled as he stood erectly, fury in the depths of his orange flames.

"YOU DESERVE NOTHING!!!!" he roared as he lunged foreward ans closed his jaws onto Feril's muzzle.

The other yelped in pain as he tore himself away, the sound of flesh being shredded by sharp canines. The scent of blood soon engulfed the two Ragnorak's nostrils as the red essence began to drip from the large wound. Soon another whine of pain followed as the wounded of the two was slammed roughly into the ground, back bleeding from being inflicted with the sharp fangs.

"You deserve nothing... You are the reason that the clan almost died... The reason why mother and father are dead!" Veril screamed into the bloody face of his sibling, "I want you to leave... I WANT YOU TO LEAVE BEFORE I KILL YOU!!!"

Quickly, he jumped away from the form he had pinned to the ground and stood in place. He watched as the body rose shakily from the gorund, glaring blue eyes piercing into his own orange before lowering. Stiffly, his brother began to limp away before he stopped. A chuckle escaped the manaical maw of the other before a soft whisper emerged.

"Fine than, Chosen One... I will leave but don't think that means I will not come back! So you best watch over the clan and," a crazed bloodlust of a smile grew, "As well as your precious pups!"

Veril snarled louder at the mention of his bundles.

"Don't you dare go near them! DON'T YOU DARE HURT THEM!!!" he screamed as Feril slunk back to the depths of Hell in which he came from.

Character Concepts: Veril & Feril

Created two new furry characters to add along to a possible children's story I have spinning in my head. I may or may not use them but the former seems to be the one I'm leaning towards. I'm amazed at myself that I could create them in such a short amount of time, including their background.

Characters: Veril and Feril

Veril and Feril are a breed of wolf that I created, known as the Ragnorak. The breed appears to look like overgrown huskies: what with their large chest cavities, overlap of fur, and slim yet stocky legs. However, they do contain wolve-like traits such as: the triangular ears, long muzzles, and long, non-curling, tail. Perhaps the only thing that makes them not look like cross-breeds of a husky and wolf are: their large manes that are hair-like instead of fur and start at the back of the head, ending at the chest and curling. Also the unusual color of the pelts which appear natural in brown, whites, blacks, tans and greys but are intertwined with folicols of blues, purples, reds, greens or yellow hairs (giving them a metallic shine).

The eyes of the Ragnorak also play an importance in their breed. Eyes can come in only 5 different shades: blue, red, green, yellow and brown. The rarest occurance of a different eye color are: black, white and orange. This trait of eye color can only occur in the hierarchy of the clan. (This both showing the dominance of the individual as while as the bloodline.)

The Ragnorak themselves act much like a pack of wolves with the positions. However, the Alpha Male is not bond to one female. He may have his way with all of the clan's females. (Much like a stallion in a herd...) Also, the pack is not called a pack but a clan.

Anyway, back to the basic point.

Veril and Feril are two bothers of a Ragnorak clan. They are both different in appearance and personality. (This also causing them to dislike one another since their births.)

Veril is the more mature of the two. From an early age he has always made sure that growning up and acting like an adult was the important thing to do. He never likes to expose his playful, trapt, puppy side and perfers to act like the regal son he is. As for his appearance, Veril is slightly more odd then the normal Ragnorak. He does have the large chest and fur layers of a husky, but he is not stocky. Instead of the shortish limbs, Veril has long, slim, appendages, dainty yet speedy paws and is quite tall.  He is slimer than a normal Ragnorak and his ears are slightly more long than a wolf's.

His coloring is also pretty odd for a Ragnorak as well. Veril's cape coat is a rich brown interetwined with torquoise blue hair. His leg socks are tan and his lower cape is a rich white. His eyes are a vibrant orange showing his status and heritage.

Feril is the more playful yet maniacal one of the two. He has always been the one to cause trouble for the clan and doesn't care for what he's done. He perfers that everything be about him and that he is far better than the other's of the clan. He has a very large ego and assumes that he will get everything he wants. However, the only thing that puts a dampen on him is Veril. Feril's appearance is normal of a Ragnorak but is perhaps he is more muscular and maybe stockier. His muzzle is larger than that of Veril's slim one and his ears are shorter.  His legs are short and powerful, with wide-set paws.

As for coloring, Feril is a rich tan with red intertwined in it as his cape coat. His lower is a soft brown while his paw socks are dirty white. His eyes are lower ranking blue, showing that he is lesser to his brother's power. (This causing him to hate Veril even more if possible...)

Brother (Poem for Literary Anthology)

Here is the second peice I'm going to submit to Literary Anthology. I have already finished Smile for the Trickster, so this is my short poem. Enjoy. Smile

Brother

We were brothers

You and I

Until war smothered

Across our binds

Now we fight

Against one another

In this plight

Oh dear Brother,

Oh dear Brother

Why must we now spite each other?

Smile for the Trickster(unfinished work)

Here is a peice I'm working on for my school's Literary Anthology. It's still not completed but I wanted to put it on this blog for you all to view.

Smile for the Trickster

She could hear it again, from the depths of the darkened woods. The low, melodious, whispers that rung out into the stillness of the night. Wave after wave of the tenor voices sent a silence into the surroundings, the vibrations engulfing everything in their paths. It was like clock work. As soon as the sun set behind the luscious green mountains the voices would begin. First soft and low like a murmur then reaching into a perfect octet of loud vocals.

She sighed as her lids fell over to hide brown optics from the rest of the slumbering world. A smile graced her lips as she listened on to her private serenade. Carefully, she rolled over to face the glass window and opened her eyes. The lush, darkened leaves of the woods greeted her. The branches swayed from the unforeseen tickles of the wind and danced to the song. Her smile widened as she continued to watch the play until her eyes grew heavy from the sands of sleep. Finally she allowed herself to fall into the arms of slumber and let her mind go. The world darkened around her line of vision as she mumbled one word from beneath her breath.

   "Daddy…"

The sun gleamed through the window creating tiny pixies of light around the tiny room. The tiny figure upon the rumpled bed stirred for but a moment before giving out a groan of irritation. It rolled over from the plant's rays and crept away towards the far corner of the bed. An audible sign escaped with the release of breath as the person pushed themselves deeper into the folds of the blue blanket. Just as sleep was once again in their grasp, the crack of a door alerted them back into consciousness.

"Andy! Time to get up!" shouted a feminine voice. The owner quickly walked towards the small bed and crouched down. With a sly grin, the person brought their finger towards the body and proceeded to poke. "Poke, Poke, Poke…" After a good 3 minutes, the tormented body flung itself upwards and glared at its tormentor.

"Mother, will you stop doing that?" screeched an aggravated Andy, brown eyes burning with fury. Her mother merely gave her a smug smile before lifting herself off her knees. She shook her head, blonde curls bouncing from the gesture, and watched Andy with a bemused look.

"You're fault, lazy. If you would just get up I wouldn't have to." snapped her mother playfully.

Andy rolled her eyes at her victorious dame but smiled anyway.

"Yeah, well, I had a good night." She replied softly.

"Oh really, now", her mother smirked, "Why is that?"

"Because daddy sang to me last night," she answered.

Her mother stiffened at the words that left her lips. Her lips pursed tightly together as she looked away. She nodded her head in conformation before striding rather quickly out of Andy's room. Said room owner pouted at the action before glancing at the woods outside. The leaves, once dark, now shone their original vibrant green, the branches at peace and no longer waltzing to their dance. She frowned at the lush picture. Her ears twitched and strained in order to listen better to her silent music. Only a minute passed before Andy's eyes widened to the size of plates. The voice was still singing…

The Silence of Nightshade

He stood softly beneath the arches of the trees. His head bowed and shoulders slumped, while the rain beat down on his body. He didn't care... He sighed as the moisture was absorbed into the white blouse and the black slacks he wore. This was what he wanted. What he needed... Just the silence and peace of the rain and the forest.

   SNAP!

A large twig broke from under the pressue of someone's foot. He gave a weary sigh for the disturbance but did not turn around. His pointed ears twitched, alerting him of the strangers pace. He did not have to worry... There was no threat. A tiny smile appeared on his soaked face as he ran a hand through golden locks. An irratated growl warned him of the person to his side and for that, he laughed. A sweet melody of vocals playing in perfect harmony. Simply beautiful...

"You're getting soaked, Dipshit!" snapped the person next to him, voice high yet still holding it's softness.

"I know... That is why I'm out here, little she-wolf." he replied, laughter erupting from him as the female snarled.

"Don't call me that! I hate that damn nickname!"

He grinned as he opened one eyelid to expose a soft yellow-green optic. He glanced at the angry young women next to him. Her short, scruffy, hair was plastered to her face; the mocha locks looking black while the orange and blonde highlights were dull of their vibrant color.  Her dark brown eyes glowed from angry as think water drops dripped off her thick eyelashes. Cheeks were red from the cold and her plump pink lips were set into a firm, thin, line. "Cute," he thought as he turned full way to stare at her.

"I'm sorry, Cassandra. It was but a harmless tease." he stated with a breath of sweetness.  Slowly he took her tiny hand and place a chaste kiss on it. He pulled away and grinned as the blush on her cheeks reddened to a satisfactory extent. He let go of her hand and watched as it dropped lazily to her side. The brown orbs stared at him in contemplation for but a moment, before blinking and then narrowing into a glare.

"What the Hell was that for Elf-Boy!?" Cassandra screeched in anger, rubbing the apendage on her wet jeans.

"A lovely women, deserves a kiss every now and then." he chuckled as the blush once again placed itself upon the other's cheeks.

"My, are you full of it. Then again, I suppose it's the ways of all you elves, right?" she replied as she set her hands firmly on her hips.

"No, I just happen to like doing it. They are my ideals, perhaps still held in the Elvin Tradition but I use them for my own personal agenda."

Cassandra rolled her eyes before muttering, "Whatever, Bevan." She turned and bent over near the large rock next to them and picked up somthing. She gazed at the item, a set of purple, oval-shaped, glasses before breathing on them. She pulled out some of black hem of her t-shirt and proceeded to clean the specs of water. She glanced up at Bevan and shook her head in a disapproving manner.

"Your glasses are going to get fucked up this way." she sighed as she placed them onto the collor of her shirt. She turned away from the elf and began walking away, no longer cursing at the onslaught of drops pouring down from the sky. She merely walked away before stopping and turning her head up towards the sky.

"You know... The silence is really nice. I can see why you come out here all the time, no matter how bad the weather. It must be pleasant to be in the company of the Nightshade." she whispered to him.

"It is... Nothing gives me greater joy than the silence of the Nightshade." he retorted, picking up one of the withered looking black flowers.

"Yeah, well, that's enough for today," Cassandra snapped before gracing him with a smile, "Perhaps tomarrow you can come and I can keep you company too."

Bevan smiled as he nodded his head, blue bangs smacking his face while blonde locks struck his back. "I would like that very much." he answered before strolling towards her.

"Now, about my glasses..." he suddenly asked, hand held out and a demanding smirk on his face.

"Oh, you want them, Elf-Boy," Cassandra asked, a smirk on her own lips, "Well, you're going to have to come and get them!" And with that, she took off towards the Manner, a laugh of wild abandon escaping her.

The elf grinned as he ran after his charge, all the while humming a song of long ago...

Excerpt from The Element Chronicles

"Tsk, Tsk... Still moping around are we? I thought you were stronger than this CrystalStaff."

"You know what? I don't want to here any of this B.S. right now!" snapped the angered young man.

"My, My... Bitterness really isn't very becoming of you, Pet." stated his tormentor with amusemnent laced in every word.

"Will you just go back to the Hell Hole you crawled out of already!?" screeched the man once again. His violet eyes flashed from his unrestrained anger as he clenched his fist tightly. His cheeks were flushed pink from the blood rushing to them as he focused on control for himself. Stiffly he brushed a long, chin-lengthed, blue bang away from his right eye which was twitching in rage. He glared at the other infront of him before taking in a deep breath.

His mouth opened slowly as he exhaled and finally hollered, "DON'T YOU DARE CALL ME PET!!! I'M NOT YOUR DAMN DOG, PARASITE!!!"

The other placed a fake look of hurt on his face. His eyes dulled and a tiny pout played on his lips. Eyes of fiery blue gazed at the other with a well played act of sorrow. Pale hands ran through raven locks as though to soothe the oncoming pain.

"But, Love... I always call you Pet. You are my one and only. My darling, my love, my h--," he was cut off by the blue haired one.

"SHUT UP! SHUT UP! I'M NOT YOURS, YOU DAMN VAMPIRE!" screamed the man.

A chuckle escaped the brunette as he calmly stalked towards his prey. His laughter increased with every step until he was face to face with the other.

"Oh, but that is where you are wrong, Love. You belong to me as much as I to you. Just think of it! Dion CrystalStaff and David Drakul together forever. The descendent of Merlin and the descendent of Dracula, Soul Mates... As much as you distaste it, we have been promised to eachother long before either of our births."

"That's a lie... STOP SAYING THIS! IT'S NOT TRUE! I AM NOT YOUR SOUL MATE AND I NEVER WILL BE!"

"Hmmm... Trust me, Love. You will, wether you like it or not."

"Like I'd every fall in love with a vampire, Drakul... A male at that! What B.S.!!!"

The damnable laughter rung through Dion's ears as the vamp howled. His laughter was pure malice and insanity rolled into one tight ball. He scowled as the other held his side from the overthrow of giggles. His head and shoulders shook from the vibrations radiating from him.

"Oh you are a naive one, wizardling. That is a quality a find very appealing in you. Don't worry, you'll love me in due time. Until then..." a dark smirk lit David's lips as he bared his fangs to the young wizard. Swiftly, he jerked the other by the back of his hair and exposed the pale neck. He grinned as he sniffed the main pulsing vein before ramming his fangs into the area. The vampire didn't drink but sucked hard enough to leave a serious mark. He pulled away before licking his reddened lips and laughing, once again, at the red face of Dion.

"Don't worry, I haven't turned you. Just think of this as a 'Property Mark'."

The wizard hissed as he clutched onto his neck and glared at the other. "You bitch..."

"Ha, I love you too, Baby." And with that the vamp left in a swirl of blue smoke, leaving the wizard to glare at the nothing.
